Smoked Porter Beershake

Smoked Porter Beershake (makes 3 or 4, depending on the size of your glasses)

What you need:

     -  1 ice cream sandwich (I used Eskimo Pie I.C. Sandwiches, not regular Eskimo Pies)

     -  4-6 ounces porter or stout (I used Stone Smoked Porter) - more is not necessarily better

     -  1 scoop vanilla bean ice cream, softened

     -  6-8 ounces milk, just enough to help the blender blend

How you do it:

    1.  Blend all ingredients, adding milk as needed in a blender until thick and frothy.

    2.  Pour milkshake into glasses and serve and ENJOY!

Beer Places with Fantastic Food!

It's tough to do both beer and food well... these are a few of our picks for fun beer places that nail them both.

The Beer Bistro
1061 W. Madison St.
Chicago, IL 60607
(312) 433-0013

"This place is our go-to spot to grab a beer in the area.  They have a great selection of beer and friendly staff.  The kicker for me is that they have bacon as one of the sides you can order.  Yeah you read that right.  Just straight up bacon, no frills no fluff." James K, Des Plaines, IL

The Ritual Kitchen and Beer Garden
4095 30th St
(between Lincoln Ave & Polk Ave)
San DiegoCA 92104
(619) 283-1618

"I love the beer, food and the ambiance here. 'twas a little pricey, which is expected of a place which sources locally harvested food. One star off because it took a while for the food to come. If you're in good company the time shouldn't matter. Just don't go expecting a meal right away." Laurent B, Naples FL

Southern Sun Pub and Brewery
627 S Broadway St
BoulderCO 80305
(303) 543-0886
"My husband and I visit this place about every weekend. Not only do they have great beer and food, they can easily accommodate families with energetic little ones. They feature amazing chalk paintings by artist Bryce Widom, to boot. Make sure you bring cash or a debit card - they don't accept credit cards - but their ATM fee is only $1!" Amy M, Boulder, CO
8105 SE Stark St
PortlandOR 97215
(503) 255-0049
"Roscoe's is a bar you have to like. There's rotating beers, so there's always something new and exciting to try, decent selection of wine, delicious southern food, and (best part) sushi available from next door.
I recommend the catfish and trying the cornbread. Happy hour deals are a steal. The sushi uses a different service so be patient and tip separately (and well), it's probably a pain for the servers to keep check of two restaurants.
Service is very friendly and helpful. And dogs are allowed inside! What else could you ask?" Samantha O, Vancouver, WA
